DTC 222
UnclassifiedFuel
What This Code Means
MIL ON during active fault; Engine Shutdown; Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON during active fault; TPS2 voltage low (< 1.00 VDC) at 0% TPS; DST displays TPS2 voltage <0.2 VDC with the throttle closed; DST displays TPS2 voltage <0.2 VDC with the throttle open; TPS2 voltage falls below 0.2 VDC
Possible Causes
- •TPS1 voltage is greater than 4.8V or less than 0.2V AND TPS2 voltage is greater than 4.8V or less than 0.2V
- •Simultaneous voltage out-of-range faults for both TPS 1 and TPS2
- •Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) failure
- •TPS 2 sensor voltage less than 0.200 volts
- •Intermittent Problem
- •Poor Throttle Connection
- •Faulty Throttle
Suggested Actions
- 1Replace the electronic throttle assembly
- 2Troubleshoot according to TPS1 voltage out-of-range following DTC 122 and 123 procedures
- 3Troubleshoot according to TPS2 voltage out-of-range following DTC 222 and 223 procedures
- 4Perform the On-Board (OBD) System Check
- 5With Key ON, Engine OFF, System Mode 'Stopped', enable 'DBW Test' mode and check if TPS2 voltage is < 1.00 VDC at 0% TPS by design
- 6Slowly depress FP while observing TPS2 voltage (or sweep throttle on stationary applications using DBW page TPS Command box)
- 7Turn Key OFF and disconnect throttle from harness
- 8Slowly release FPP sensor while observing TPS2 voltage
- 9Jumper 5Vref1 to TPS2 signal circuit at throttle connector, turn Key ON, Engine OFF, System Mode 'Stopped' and check if DST displays TPS2 voltage >4.0 VDC
