DTC 221
UnclassifiedEmissions
What This Code Means
TPS 1 Higher Than TPS 2; TPS1 and TPS2 difference is more than the fault condition defined in the calibration
Possible Causes
- •Faulty ECM
- •Intermittent problem
- •TPS shorted to voltage in the harness
- •Faulty connection at throttle
- •Faulty throttle
Suggested Actions
- 1Perform the On-Board (OBD) System Check.
- 2With Key ON, Engine OFF, System Mode set to 'Stopped', and 'DBW Test' mode enabled, slowly depress FPP sensor (or for stationary applications, go to DBW page and type desired throttle opening % in the TPS Command box) to check if TPS1 and TPS2 difference is more than the fault condition.
- 3Turn Key OFF, disconnect throttle from harness, turn Key ON, Engine OFF, set System Mode to 'Stopped', enable 'DBW Test' mode, and check if voltage for both TPS1 and TPS2 is less than 0.100 VDC.
- 4Connect TPS1 signal to the 5V reference at throttle connector while observing TPS1 voltage, repeat for TPS2, and check if DST displays both TPS1 and TPS2 voltage over 4.90 VDC when each is connected to 5Vref.
