What This Code Means
Engine fails to start; Red Shutdown status LED illuminated; Shutdown condition indicated on display; Engine coolant temperature is below the low coolant temperature warning threshold; Coolant level sensor signal is showing a low coolant level for greater than 10 seconds; Coolant level low warning; Coolant level low shutdown; Low fuel warning; Low fuel shutdown; Unconditional engine stop, bypassing any time delay to stop; Bypassed shutdown fault while the generator set was in Battle Short mode; Local or remote Emergency Stop has been activated; Fail to shutdown
Possible Causes
- •Emergency Stop button is pressed
- •Ambient temperature too cold for specified generator set
- •Coolant heater malfunction or not installed
- •Blockage in coolant system
- •Low coolant
- •Low fuel level
- •Faulty or inoperable switch
- •Local Emergency Stop button pressed
- •Remote Emergency Stop button pressed
- •Event/fault 1416 activated as a result of another active shutdown fault while the PowerCommand 3.3 control is operating in Battle Short mode

Suggested Actions
- 1Pull (or twist and pull) the Emergency Stop button out
- 2Press the Off button on the Operator Panel to acknowledge this action
- 3Press the Auto or Manual Run button as previously determined
- 4Investigate and remedy the cause of the emergency stop before attempting a reset and start
- 5Make sure the generator set meets its performance specifications
- 6Make sure the coolant heater is installed and powered
- 7Contact your Cummins service representative
- 8Stop the engine and allow the engine to cool down.
- 9Visually inspect and verify that the engine coolant is at the appropriate level.
- 10If the coolant level is too low, add coolant per specifications.
- 11Add the manufacturer's prescribed fuel.
- 12Remove the switch and verify proper switch operation. If either of the following conditions is demonstrated, the switch is defective: When the float is at the bottom of the switch, the wires do not show continuity; When the float is raised, the wires do not show an open circuit.
- 13Contact your local dealer if repair or replacement is required.
- 14Push this button in for Emergency Shutdown of the engine.
- 15Check the Input # requirements and correct if possible
- 16If the engine can be stopped, allow the engine to cool down completely before proceeding
- 17Troubleshoot the shutdown fault that is causing the generator set to shut down
- 18Allow the engine to cool down completely before proceeding with checks
- 19Reset the local/remote Emergency Stop button: De-activate (disable) the Emergency Stop button, press the Stop button, press the Reset button, and select the desired operating mode (manual or auto)
