What This Code Means

Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON; Engine will not start; Engine shutdown

Possible Causes

  • Air inlet system is obstructed, modified, or damaged
  • Air inlet system obstructed, modified, or damaged
  • Backfire
  • Burn back
  • Cracks or breaks in the air inlet system
  • Cracks or breaks in the air inlet system allowing heated air to enter
  • Engine heat recirculating into the intake
  • Hot air from the engine, exhaust, or radiator is recirculating into the air inlets
  • IAT sensor voltage less than 0.050 volts for 1 second during engine cranking or running
  • Improper valve lash
  • Incorrect valve lash
  • Inlet air is much hotter than normal
