Rough idle; Unstable idle; Engine missing; Incorrect idle; DST displays MAP greater than defined in diagnostic calibration; DST displays MAP voltage <0.100 VDC

Possible Causes

  • •Engine mechanical problem
  • •Faulty ECM
  • •Faulty ECM connection
  • •Faulty MAP sensor
  • •Faulty pressure connection to intake
  • •Intermittent Problem
  • •MAP value is greater than 35 psi (psia) with TPS less than 10% and engine rpm greater than 1400 while the engine is running
  • •Open sensor ground circuit
  • •Vacuum leak

  1. 1Correct the engine mechanical problem or vacuum leak before continuing the diagnostic chart
  2. 2Disconnect MAP sensor from engine harness (Key OFF), then check if DST displays MAP voltage <0.100 VDC with Key ON, Engine OFF (System Mode = 'Stopped')
  3. 3Perform On-Board (OBD) System Check
  4. 4Probe sensor ground circuit with test light connected to battery voltage
  5. 5Verify if DST displays MAP greater than defined in diagnostic calibration with Key ON, Engine ON (System Mode = 'Running')
