What This Code Means
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON during active fault; Adaptive disabled; ECM uses default value for ECT sensor
Possible Causes
- •ECT sensor voltage exceeds 4.950 volts while engine is running
- •Faulty ECM
- •Faulty ECM connection
- •Faulty ECT sensor
- •Faulty Harness
- •Faulty connection to sensor
- •Intermittent Problem
- •Open ECT ground (5Vrtn1) circuit
Suggested Actions
- 1Check if DST displays ECT voltage greater than calibration limit with Key ON, Engine Off (System Mode = 'Stopped').
- 2Disconnect ECT sensor from harness, jumper across terminals at connector, and check if DST displays ECT voltage of 0.1 or less.
- 3Disconnect wire harness header from ECM, remove yellow lock from header, and check resistance between MAP input at ECM header and signal at device (Ensure resistance is <5 ohms. Probe on the side of the terminal to avoid spreading pins).
- 4Perform the On-Board (OBD) System Check.
