What This Code Means

MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) On; Engine shutdown; Engine coolant temperature reading or estimate greater than 230 degrees F for greater than 10 seconds; Engine running too hot

Possible Causes

  • •Cooling system not full
  • •Improper coolant type
  • •Improper 50/50 mix of coolant and water
  • •Fan belts not intact or loose
  • •Debris on the radiator core impeding airflow
  • •Hot air recirculating around the radiator
  • •Hot exhaust being drawn into the airflow through the radiator
