What This Code Means
Fault lamp flashing; Fault lamp flashing (previous faults); Engine cranks and starts, then shuts down within about 5-10 seconds; Shutdown-Alarm Low Oil Pressure; Hard starting; Failure to start; No voltage on Wire 14C while cranking (per Procedure D); All other wires pass testing between CONN1P Connector and ECM
Possible Causes
- •Active fault present
- •Previous faults stored in memory
- •Low engine oil level
- •Low oil pressure
- •Defective oil pressure switch
- •Wiring harness problem with Wire 14C
- •Wiring harness problem with Wire 566
- •Sheared or partially sheared flywheel key
- •Incorrect ignition timing
- •ECM is not correctly powered
- •ECM is not correctly grounded
Suggested Actions
- 1Fault will clear when condition is no longer present
- 2Fault code will be saved in fault history memory
- 3Turn key to ON position, do not start engine. After 30 seconds, fault lamp will flash previous faults stored in memory.
- 4Fault codes will be displayed with flashing sequence just like active faults.
- 5Sequence will restart at the beginning when list is completed.
- 6To stop sequence, either switch key OFF or start engine.
- 7Check malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)
- 8Measure the voltage of Wire 566 from the OPS switch to ECM
- 9Check flywheel crankshaft position sensor (CKP)
- 10Verify flywheel key is properly seated
- 11Verify ECM is correctly powered and grounded
- 12Test MPR
