1171
UnclassifiedGeneral
What This Code Means
MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) ON during active fault; Adaptive learn disabled; Engine shutdown
Possible Causes
- •EPR actual pressure is greater than 1.5 inches water pressure above commanded pressure
- •EPR electrical connector pins C018 damaged, corroded, or contaminated
- •EPR failing fuel pressure test specifications
- •Electronic Pressure Regulator (EPR) internal circuitry fault
- •Faulty EPR (Engine Pressure Regulator)
- •Faulty wiring harness/circuit
- •High fuel pressure into the EPR
Suggested Actions
- 1Clear DTC information from the ECM using the DST, turn the ignition OFF for 30 seconds, and operate the engine to full operating temperature to verify the repair.
- 2Inspect the EPR electrical connector pins C018 for damage, corrosion, or contamination and repair the circuit as necessary.
- 3Perform the On-Board (OBD) System Check.
- 4Replace or repair the EPR.
- 5Run the EPR pressure test in the fuel system diagnostic section and follow EPR service recommendations from the fuel pressure test chart.
- 6Run the fuel pressure diagnostic test in the fuel system diagnostic section.
