OVERCRANK

Possible Causes

• •Engine ECM limits the crank cycle
• •Engine cranks up to 45 seconds continuously or 75 seconds cyclically before shutting down.
• •Engine does not start after 45 seconds of continuous cranking
• •Engine does not start after 75 seconds of cyclic cranking
• •Engine fails to start within the maximum continuous (45 seconds) or cyclic (75 seconds) cranking limit
• •FASTCHECK engine switch is not moved from CRANK to RUN while the controller is causing the engine to crank
• •Generator set fails to start after three crank cycles (15 seconds crank and 15 seconds off)
• •Generator set fails to start after two crank cycles with 3 starting attempts during each cycle (applicable to 20 and 26 kW Models with RDC2.4 v 1.4.4 or later)
• •Generator set master switch is not in the AUTO position
• •Generator set master switch was momentarily placed in the OFF/RESET position and then returned to the RUN position
• •Speed sensor signal is absent for longer than one second
• •Starter or engine does not turn (locked rotor) after 15 seconds

Suggested Actions

1. 1If circuit boards are equipped with DIP switches, select cranking using a DIP switch.
