High Water Temperature (HWT) shutdown at start-up

Possible Causes

  • •Trapped air in the thermostat housing

Suggested Actions

  1. 1Install Water Bypass Hose Kit 276577
  2. 2Loosen hose clamps and remove existing hose between sensor block and thermostat housing
  3. 3Remove existing pipe elbow from sensor block and install new pipe elbow X-391-21 with thread sealant, pointing downward at the 7 o'clock position
  4. 4Remove pipe elbow from lower hole of thermostat housing and install pipe plug X-75-28 with sealant into the lower hole
  5. 5Remove pipe plug from upper hole of thermostat housing and install pipe elbow X-391-15 with sealant into the upper hole, pointing toward the sensor block
  6. 6Set controller master switch to OFF and disconnect negative battery cable before performing service
