What This Code Means

Engine fails to start; Engine does not engage by the third attempt; Engine speed is not safe; Low oil pressure; Engine pressure falls below 15 psi (103 kPa); High coolant temperature; Low coolant level; Loss of magnetic pickup; Unit will not run

Possible Causes

  • •Engine fails to engage within three 10-second crank attempts
  • •Engine engages at an unsafe speed (RPM's)
  • •Oil pressure falls below 15 psi (103 kPa) as detected by variable resistive values from the oil pressure sending unit
  • •Engine coolant temperature exceeds safe limits
  • •Coolant level is low
  • •Magnetic pickup signal is lost
  • •MPEC Control Switch is set to the OFF/ RESET position

Suggested Actions

  1. 1Set MPEC Control Switch to the manual position to start the generator immediately
  2. 2Set MPEC Control Switch to the AUTO position to allow an automatic transfer switch (ATS) to start the generator automatically
