Possible Causes

  • Loose hose clamps on CAC piping
  • Tears or holes in CAC piping silicone boots
  • Loose, damaged, or leaking wastegate actuator pressure lines
  • Weak cylinder
  • Dirty or damaged TIP and MAP sensors
  • Faulty MAP sensor
  • Damaged turbocharger compressor or turbine wheels
  • Turbocharger compressor or turbine wheels not spinning freely

Suggested Actions

  1. 1Tighten hose clamps on the CAC piping, ensuring the clamp is not located on the edge of either the silicone boot or the pipe, clear fault and test engine
  2. 2Replace damaged silicone boot(s), clear fault and retest engine
  3. 3Repair loose or damaged wastegate actuator pressure hose, clear fault and retest engine
  4. 4Perform a spark kill test under approximately 20% load, monitor MAP for changes, and diagnose the weak cylinder
  5. 5Remove and clean TIP and MAP sensors
  6. 6Swap MAP sensors between primary and secondary sides to troubleshoot active fault codes
  7. 7Replace MAP sensor currently installed on primary side if DTC 234 becomes active
  8. 8Remove exhaust pipe, fuel system, and intake boot from secondary turbo to inspect compressor and turbine wheels for damage and ensure wheels spin freely
