632
UnclassifiedStarting
What This Code Means
TPS 1 Signal Voltage Low; DST displays TPS 1 voltage of 0.2 volts or less with throttle closed; TPS 1 voltage falls below 0.2 volts when depressing foot pedal
Possible Causes
- •Damage, corrosion, or contamination on throttle wire harness connector terminals
- •Faulty ECM
- •Faulty TPS 1
- •Intermittent fault in TPS 1 circuit
- •Lack of continuity / open circuit between TPS 1 connector signal pin C and ECM connector TPS 1 signal pin 53
- •TPS sensor voltage less than 0.2 volts while engine is cranking or running
Suggested Actions
- 1Connect Diagnostic Scan Tool (DST) in Drive by Wire (DBW) throttle test mode with Key ON, Engine OFF to check TPS 1 voltage
- 2Disconnect TPS 1 electrical connector, jumper 5 volt reference circuit pin A to TPS 1 signal circuit pin C, and verify DST displays voltage of 4.0 volts or greater
- 3Inspect throttle wire harness connector terminals for damage, corrosion, or contamination and repair as necessary
- 4Perform On-Board (OBD) System Check
- 5Repair circuit wiring as necessary according to Wiring Repairs in Engine Electrical
- 6Replace ECM
- 7Replace TPS 1
- 8Slowly depress foot pedal while observing TPS 1 voltage on DST
- 9Using a DVOM, check continuity between TPS 1 connector signal pin C and ECM connector TPS 1 signal pin 53
