Possible Causes

  • •Engine fails to engage (start) by the third cranking attempt (pre-set at 10 seconds per attempt)
  • •Engine is running at an unsafe speed (RPMs)
  • •Low coolant level
  • •Loss of magnetic pickup
  • •Short circuit
  • •Over current condition
  • •Engine pressure has fallen below 15 psi
  • •Engine temperature has exceeded 239 °F
  • •Unit attempted to start a pre-programmed number of times and failed to start (pre-set at 3 cycles with a 10 second duration)
  • •Engine is running at an unsafe speed
  • •MPEC Control Switch is set to the OFF/RESET position

Suggested Actions

  1. 1Place the Auto Start Stop Switch in the manual position to start the generator immediately, or place it in the AUTO position to allow the automatic transfer switch (ATS) to start the generator automatically
  2. 2Press the reset button on the overcurrent relay
  3. 3Place the main circuit breaker in the closed position (ON)
