IGNITION MODULE FAULT INDICATOR

What This Code Means

Control board stops receiving a valid engine speed input signal while running; Engine has not started within the total 90 second crank cycle; Ignition Module detects a fault

Possible Causes

  • •Loss of engine speed input signal
  • •Overcrank condition
  • •Ignition Module fault

Suggested Actions

  1. 1Close the throttle
  2. 2Shut down the engine by turning off the fuel supply
  3. 3Wait for 15 seconds to ensure the engine has stopped
  4. 4Energize the starter and monitor the engine speed signal
  5. 5If engine speed signal is not seen, stop crank cycle, lock out on fault, and flash the overspeed LED
  6. 6If engine speed signal is seen during cranking, start and run the engine normally
  7. 7If engine speed signal is lost again while running, repeat the procedure one more time
  8. 8If failure repeats a third time, shut down the engine, lock out on fault, and flash the overspeed LED
  9. 9Overcrank fault latches and shuts down the engine
  10. 10Place the AUTO-OFF-MANUAL switch in the “OFF” position to turn off the corresponding fault LED
  11. 11Ignition Module fault indicator will flash
  12. 12Engine will be shut down
