CHECK DEF

UnclassifiedCooling

What This Code Means

DEF level gauge in red area; Low Fuel warning indicator; Sustained low-load operations; Low engine temperature; Low engine load; Low exhaust temperature; Sustained low-load operations (less than 30% of the generator full-load rating); Engine temperature too low; Engine load too low; Exhaust temperatures drop; Problems resulting from sustained low-load operations; Low engine load (less than 30% of the generator full-load rating); Drop in exhaust temperatures; Engine stops approximately 8 hours after error message is displayed; Engine runs for only approximately 7 minutes after restart and shuts down again; Manual purging becomes impossible; Check DEF indicator is displayed; Engine shuts down when DEF level decreases to 10%

Possible Causes

  • Low DEF level (10%)
  • Low diesel fuel available
  • Generator operating at less than 30% of the generator full-load rating
  • Sustained low-load operations (less than 30% of the generator full-load rating)
  • Engine temperature and/or load is too low
  • Force Purge operation cannot be completed
  • Force Purge operation is interrupted
  • Force Purge operation is not performed
  • Level of diesel exhaust fluid in the DEF tank is below 10% capacity
  • DEF quality is poor

Suggested Actions

  1. 1PowerBalance controller automatically senses and increases engine load using resistive coils
  2. 2PowerBalance automatically deactivates additional load when external load demands bring the generator to an optimum level
  3. 3PowerBalance load management controller automatically senses and increases engine load using resistive coils
  4. 4PowerBalance continuously monitors engine load and automatically increases engine load using resistive coils when temperature and/or load is too low
  5. 5PowerBalance automatically deactivates the additional resistive load when external load demands bring the generator to an optimum level
  6. 6PowerBalance automatically senses and increases engine load using resistive coils when temperature and/or load is too low
  7. 7PowerBalance automatically deactivates the additional resistive load when load demands bring the generator to an optimum level
  8. 8Restart the engine and perform the Force Purge operation procedures
  9. 9Contact nearest MQ Power or Sunbelt dealer
  10. 10Check the DEF tank level
  11. 11Check active diagnostic trouble codes
  12. 12Restart the engine
