Suggested Actions

  1. 1Loosen dirt with a soft brush or a damp cloth
  2. 2Use a vacuum system to clean up loosened dirt
  3. 3Remove dust and dirt using dry, low-pressure air of 25 psi (172.3 kPa) maximum
  4. 4Open the generator main circuit breaker.
  5. 5Disconnect all wires to completely disconnect the alternator.
  6. 6Provide an external source to blow warm, dry air through the generator interior (around the rotor and stator windings). Do not exceed 185 °F (85 °C).
  7. 7Connect stator lead.
  8. 8Start the generator and let it run for two or three hours.
  9. 9Shut down the generator and repeat the insulation resistance tests.
